Episode 163: Dr. Gail Gnade: Polyvagal Theory

Today, Kathy welcomes Gail Gnade, PhD, and the focus of their conversation is on polyvagal theory in eating disorder treatment. Polyvagal theory is sometimes described as the science of connection, and safe connections with others are biologically imperative for our health and growth as a species.

Dr. Gnade has been a Clinical Psychologist in the state of TN for 26 years and currently serves as the Senior Clinical Consultant for Eating Disorder Treatment at Focus Integrative and Treatment Centers in Knoxville and Chattanooga TN. Dr. Gnade also works with individual clients while specializing in Eating Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Mood Disorders and Anxiety Disorders with a Trauma Informed Care Approach. Dr. Gnade is Certified in EMDR from a Somatic and Attachment Perspective and is trained in Level 1 Embodied Recovery through The Embodied Recovery Institute. Dr. Gnade has spent the last decade of her career integrating Attachment Theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology and Polyvagal Theory into her work. Polyvagal Theory can inform the healing process and offers many psychoeducational tools and experiential approaches that enhance the process for the clinician and patients alike. This is what she will be speaking with us about today.
