Today, Kathy is joined by Kate Clemmer, LCSWC, and they have a conversation about creating body positive schools and classrooms.
Kate Clemmer, LCSW-C earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2005 with a focus on Management & Community Organization and a specialization in Child, Adolescent & Family Health. Before joining The Center for Eating Disorders in 2008, Kate provided school-based therapy to adolescents and families in Baltimore City and coordinated a multi-school health education and prevention program. Kate then served as the Center for Eating Disorder at Sheppard Pratt’s Outreach Coordinator for over a decade during which she coordinated annual professional symposiums, the statewide Love Your Tree campaign, and a diverse list of highly engaging public events designed to promote eating disorders prevention, treatment and recovery. In January 2020, the Center for Eating Disorders team merged with Eating Recovery Center (ERC) at which time Kate became the Clinical Outreach and Marketing Coordinator for what is now ERC Maryland.
Kate has facilitated professional trainings, community workshops, and countless school presentations for students of all ages as well as parents and educators. Kate is passionate about writing, advocating, and consulting on the topics of body image, media literacy, and eating disorders. In addition to her outreach role, Kate provides outpatient therapy at ERC Maryland and her favorite part of each week is facilitating one of the nation’s longest running free, weekly support groups for people with eating disorders and their loved ones.
