Treatment for Binge Eating Disorder: A New Drug Discovered

Binge Eating Disorder, characterized by eating excessive amounts of food in a short period of time, is the most common eating disorder in the US. Dasotraline, a new drug is currently in trials to treat this disorder. The overlying psychology of this disorder however, also needs to be addressed. Success can be found using psychiatric treatment as well as the use of prescription drugs as needed for both Binge Eating disorder as well as other eating disorders. It will be interesting to see if this new drug meets approval, and is effective as a component of treating binge eating disorder.
